Columns: Legion Stories that Hit a Dead End

  • Before World of Warcraft: Legion launched, it gave the appearance of the lore with all the expansion would touch on practically all facets and the major players with all the game. But inside intervening months between Legion’s launch as well as the release of v7.2 (Tomb of Sargeras), lots on the promising stories or “hinted-at” lore all have but disappeared.

In today’s column, we’ll take a peek with a few for the missed opportunities that Legion’s writers have let hit a clicking end.

    Jaina Proudmoore

Jaina played a prominent role in the pre-event to Buy Warmane Gold Legion. It was she, naturally, who created icy bridges that Alliance players employed to try to dig up Tirion Fordring. She was instrumental in this particular fight, though her disappearance when everything went really not even after defeating Krosus (the superior eredar wading inside a pool of fel who later pops up like a boss in Nighthold) is inexplicable. Since the death of Varian Wrynn, we currently only seen her another time when she stomped beyond Stormwind refusing to operate while using Horde.

Developers have mentioned that Jaina’s story isn’t something germane to Legion which her story will unfold using a later point.

    Wrathion - Deathwing’s Son

During the Legion beta, Wrathion has to be prominent part inside Highmountain story. However, sometime between beta testing likewise as the relieve Legion, his character was replaced utilizing a heretofore unprecedented Black dragon named Ebyssian also referred to as Spiritwalker Ebonhorn.

While the genuine reason for change is sound, the absence of Wrathion’s presence is quite noticeable after his prominent role in Mists of Pandaria and cameo appearance in Admiral Taylor’s garrison in Warlords of Draenor (which happened all due to him, anyway).

    Faction Leaders / Dragon Flights

Speaking of Highmountain, where is Baine Bloodhoof who also turned up there during beta? It should mount up that he is usually a big part using the Highmountain Tauren storyline but...no. He isn't. Why remains unknown.

As for the other faction leaders, most have previously been AFK from the time that the defeat at Broken Shore with notable exceptions for Tyrande Whisperwind, Malfurion Stormrage and Velen. In 7.2, we go with the first indications that King Anduin Wrynn might be making his appearance soon. Genn Greymane makes an extremely brief appearance also. This leaves only Gelbin Mekkatorque being the only Alliance leader who doesn't make at least a brief appearance eventually after Broken Shore.

As for ones Horde, we have now seen only Thrall and Saurfang in very, very brief appearances since Broken Shore. Sylvanas (see below) is noted a lot through the first stages of Legion and disappears herself besides yelling at Hordies getting Warden Towers in world PvP. A rather inexplicable omission for ones Warchief inside entire Horde.

During Suramar campaign, the regent within the Blood Elves, Lor’themar Theron doesn’t appear there personally on the big event instead sending over Lady Liadrin and Magister Rommath. While both characters are appreciated, it is usually quite incredible that explain why Lor’themar wouldn't show personal involvement in Suramar.

As towards the former Dragon Aspects, Kalecgos and Ysera both make their appearances, both rather significantly, while Alexstrasza and Nozdormu are absent completely.

Sylvanas vs Genn - Horde vs Alliance… you aren't?

A big selling point while using Legion could possibly be good old Red vs Blue. With Sylvanas becoming the Warchief from your Horde, plus the tension relating to the factions at its highest pursuing the Broken Shore, it could have ended in your storyline appearing through all locations inside expansion.

Instead, the full faction fighting has gotten place from the 1st one half of Stormheim questing and 6 of Warden Towers scattered around Broken Isles not to ever ever be mentioned again. As a Hordie, so it was incredibly jarring to try and do off Stormheim while following Warchief and fighting the Alliance then go to Val’sharah to be commanded around by Tyrande Whisperwind. Let alone finding a Warden Tower to obtain back to multi-factional Class Order Hall.

There will be a possibility that Stormheim storyline would've received continuation brought on by Sylvanas’ manage Helya as well as lantern broken by Genn, but as Helya herself is removed from equation in 7.1.5 raid Trial of Valor, it seems unlikely it can probably be followed up on.

Here’s hoping that Sylvanas together with the very least will demonstrate up for Windrunner sisters reunion when Alleria and Turalyon finally show up.

    Old Gods

Old Gods aren't a missed opportunity, but rather very strong hint to the direction of one's future expansion. There are enough nudges inside direction of N’Zoth along with the brothers across the event. Listening within the whispers of Xal’atath for Shadow Priests, the leading of Emerald Nightmare (because of the spirit of Ysera walking in a cave with ominous flower inside end) in addition to presence about the Naga lead by Azshara to call several.

Il’gynoth (within the Emerald Nightmare) gives a range of creepy cryptic whispers which may possibly hint within the future developments using the game’s characters including Muradin Bronzebeard as well as others.
