Drainage issue needs also to be considered. In our kit home project, we regard drainage pipes as one important tectonic element, instead of a mere part of infrastructure. The pipe is divided into four parts, each of which has a proper length that could be easily transported by mid-size trucks. These pipes are fixed to the main elevation of the Container House building, forming a playful “trace of water” that is independent for the rigid language water-fall landscape to the north of the building, and unified the landscape design with the architecture design itself.
1 Incense: it represents the themed image and the distinguishing service of the hotel. For one thing, lodger can feel the praying atmosphere from every details of the hotel (just like the arrangement of the rooms, the ornament of interior, etc.), for another, the hotel also provides to lodgers customer made “incense experience” service (according to preference or requirements of the lodgers; incense themed food; traditional incense rites, etc.). 2 Container: the whole hotel is transformed from containers, with eco-water paint, which reflects the design idea of “less burden on the nature”, also supplies lodgers a special feeling of space and version. 3 Town: means countryside, the plan of the hotel followed the traditional form of folk house in Shanxi, and designed a series spaces of incense exercise, like “Xunxiangjing” “Pinxiangtang”, where acting as sprite and culture center of the old Chinese villages, such as ancestral temple、stage, etc. Such designs made the tradition culture of incense and modern container structure more local, more rational.
The living room is open to the outside and the sun, a metaphorical tent or campsite, while the bunkrooms are enclosed and cool. The large fireplace allows winter occupation and the open bathroom and movable bath allows the rituals of showering and bathing to become and experience connected to nature.
The timing of this exhibit could not be better, since the current economic crisis calls for a reassessment of several areas of society, including culture and living. Container architecture is an alternative approach to the prefabricated building, it is quick to setup and low-cost, and offers custom, eco-friendly solutions. The presented projects are mainly from recycled containers assembled with low noise pollution and minimum site impact, which is why we speak of eco-friendly construction.
