So where did you all find your house plans

Event Details

  • Fast construction is one of the big advantages of Sentry Box. Because the parts of a prefab home come pre-made, all you have to do is assemble them and hook up the home to the needed utilities. Hence the name “modular.” The prefab goes up much faster because it arrives partially constructed. That means fewer days with laborers on site and less vulnerability to weather delays and illnesses that can extend the construction process by days and weeks. Still, there’s more to consider than just the construction time. Site preparation, including obtaining permits, can be a lengthy process.

I had a Realtor here over the weekend, he did the research, pulled comps, toured my property and gave me a value and list of things to do to list this house next spring/summer. So I need to get working on my plans to build my new house too. I'm thrilled he offered to board my 3 miniature donkeys after the sale of my house while the new one is being built. That was a major concern!

So where did you all find your house plans? Or do I need to find an architect? Any idea of what that will cost?

The prefab revolution has even infiltrated cabins, cottages and other small, typically one-room structures. Some companies are using shipping containers in a clever, postmodern riff on industrial styling. Others are exploring a full range of formats, from traditional (think log cabins) to the innovative.

For 30 years, Moosehead Cedar Log Homes has been crafting log homes that embody the love and tradition of this timeless lifestyle.

If you’re looking to score a great deal on your first kit home, buying a new one may mean paying a higher price. Depending on where it’s located, new homes can cost as much as 20% more than an existing home. The developer might not give you much wiggle room to haggle down the price, so it’s a good idea to shop around until you find a home you can afford.
