Companies Act 2013 and earlier company laws in India provided for registeration of companies in India. Registeration here means Incorporation.

In order to call a business a company or a corporation it must be registered with Ministry of corporate affairs.

Companies Act 1956 provided for provisions relating to unregistered company

It simply states that an unregistered company, is a company which is not registered or covered under provisions of companies Act. 1956.

    So to explain you clearly

There is huge difference. There is no such thing as unregistered company. You can call a business a company only after it has been incorporated.

Otherwise it can conduct its operations as other business entity

Such as LLP, Sole Proprietorship, co-operative Society or partnership Firm
