I recall on a wotlk private server there would be a warrior camping level pursuit hubs to buy wow classic gold like stv or even darkshire. I'd bring my feral druid to prevent him every time I saw him somewhere around low level zones. It created some fascinating dynamics, his ability was clearly improving, beat me a couple times by the conclusion, it was also interesting for reduced degrees to watch two dudes fight in the middle of city, it was pleasant to be thanked by them, etc.. There wasn't any doubt that the tauren warrior n't do this simply to discover good fights. Not only was it very uncommon for low degrees to ask for help on global chats (so I would be logging on a horde accounts to who), but also towards the end he began spamming insults at me before becoming muted by GM's so... yeah.
Following that, I started thinking differently about ganking and other sort of"poisonous" behaviour which I used to hate. Even ambushing a dude that is low health and clearly cannot fight back, it can be done to preserve this atmosphere of risk which, I think, is why all of us love pvp servers. Not only the dude who got ambushed are now more cautious about how poor he permits his health to collapse, but he will also be searching for retribution therefore the ganker now must watch out also.
When it comes to extremes like several max level WOW players camping low degrees, or 3 rogues camping a songflower, it becomes harder to make it to a"fair" fight: the reduced degrees would have to log their mains, or ask their guild, or even inquire on global channels for aid, the guilds which are getting killed or dispelled while amassing world buffs have to rally several individuals in the guild or rally individuals from other guilds, and it's more bothersome because nobody really wants to move that far, interrupt what they're doing or lose their entire world buffs when the aggressors could only log outside for 10 minutes, come back and do it again. But it can result for everyone in some interesting times.
The dilemma is that the mentality that makes it possible for this type of world pvp to flourish (people eager to help out, groups of bored WOW players looking for novel stuff to do, etc...) Is becoming rarer and rarer. Now if you're tired in WoW, you log out and you fire up another match. And people generally understand what they want to do, how they want to do it, and they're not that curious about WOW Classic anymore. They won't interrupt whatever cheap classic gold wow they're doing, they have played in world pvp, they understand exactly what it is and they have their own ideas of how it'll turn out, and WOW Classic doesn't provide a lot of incentive towards world pvp concerning rewards (that are, sadly, an important matter for a lot gamers now ).
